Woo hoo I’m doing Whole30! Bring on the sugar withdrawal 😉

Haha just kidding [well, sort of] .. so if you don’t know what Whole30 is, it’s not a diet. The creators of Whole30 designed this program to help people transform the way they think about food. The program eliminates sugar, alcohol, grains, legumes and dairy. Oy vey, right?!

This was a pretty helpful video to understand the diet >> watch here. [1 thing to note is the video says you can’t eat eggs on the diet and you actually can] 

I’m excited to start this because I need a detox. I need to start fresh and get rid of my sugar and carb cravings. I’ve been having a difficult time losing weight and my energy levels have been so low lately and I know it’s because of the food choices I’ve been making. I’ve always been really intrigued with the Paleo diet and I think the Whole30 is going to be a good introduction to it. The thing I really like about this program is that it’s not a crash diet. Yes, it’s for 30 days but there’s a 10 day reintroduction phase to introduce foods that are restricted during the initial 30 days. There is a process to reintroducing food groups back into your diet and it’s not just “Ok day 31, let’s go order a burger, beer and fries!” Also, like any other diet/program, you can’t do the program and then go back to your old/awful ways & then expect the weight to stay off. It’s changing your mindset, which I desperately need to do. I have an awful relationship with food and I’m aware of this and working hard at fixing it.

The main purpose of this program is to determine how certain foods like dairy affect your body once you reintroduce them. From the success stories I’ve watched & read, most people have done more than just 1 phase of Whole30 because they loved the weight loss and overall health benefits they experienced the first round. I can only imagine how awesome it is to get rid of sugar and carbs and to strictly eat foods like proteins and veggies and not crave the other crap.
