I can’t believe it’s already Thanksgiving! Where did this year go? First I’d like to say THANK YOU for reading my blog. I set this blog up a few years ago and never invested any time into it. I’d occasionally write a blog post here and there but just didn’t make anything of it. Then recently, one of my good friends Amanda [you can view her blog here] and I got together after work and she completely inspired and motivated me to get into it as she has been focusing on her blog and creating such great content. I’ve been slowly but surely working towards posting regularly and making this a priority as I’ve been wanting to blog for a while now – just needed to carve out time consistently to do it. [As I’m sure you know – blogging is not easy! There’s a lot of time that goes into it!]
This year was a difficult one for my family and I – we have SO much to be thankful for. My dad suffered from a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) on Jan. 8 of this year. It was an extremely devastating way to start the year off. We really thought we were going to lose him – roughly 90% of people don’t survive a ruptured AAA. It was hands down the worst experience I’ve ever been through. On top of him having a ruptured AAA and surviving, one day after being home from the hospital, the stent that was placed into his aorta had shifted and he went into shock and unresponsive in our house as a result from him almost bleeding to death. Those minutes waiting for an ambulance will forever haunt me. I still get so emotional when I think about it. I will never be able to get that experience out of my mind.
I’m incredibly thankful to God for saving him both times. In addition, my mom had a health scare this summer. I’m so thankful God looked over her as well. Thankfully she was fine and hasn’t had any issues since. However, it was just as scary to go through since she was in the hospital for a few days for a bunch of tests that didn’t give us any answers. My dad and then my mom – two people who never get sick! I’m incredibly close to my family so the thought of anything happening to either of them is horrifying to me.
I have so many people, experiences and things to be thankful for but most important to me are my parents and my sister. We are such a team and I love the three of them so so much. This Thanksgiving I am most thankful for them; their amazing personalities, their health & happiness and that we’re all together.
Happy Thanksgiving and I hope you have an amazing day today with your family & friends!
I just couldn’t help myself – needed to throw in pictures of my pups Cody & Daisy – they are the best!
