Beauty Favorites | October 2015

I would say one of my hobbies is shopping for beauty products. That can be a hobby, right? I love going into a Sephora or Ulta and just taking my time swatching products and trying different brands! Lately, I’ve been trying to be better about limiting my Ulta and Sephora visits! I try to space my visits out so I’m not spending all of my rent money at once 😉

Here are a few new beauty products that I’m loving and have been using on a daily basis throughout October!

Highlight – Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector ® Pressed – Champagne Pop

I love this product! I can’t say enough wonderful things about this highlight. After seeing Jaclyn Hill talking about it on her snapchat and all the photos that flooded instagram – I had to try it for myself.

It is so pigmented – you only need a little bit which makes it even better! I love putting it on my cheek bones, down the bridge of my nose and on my browbones. It gives you a fresh and dewy look. Love!

Perfume – Burberry Touch For Women

This perfume is light, fresh and thankfully not over powering. I find it to be light enough to wear during the day but still relatively strong that you only need to spray it once or twice to get a good amount of scent. I’m not the best at describing perfume scents so here is Amazon’s description to give you more detail:

“Burberry Touch Eau de Parfum is a luminous oriental floral fragrance. The scent features top notes of vibrant California orange, blackcurrant, fresh dewberry and subtle rose oil. Seductive heart notes of jasmine, Madonna lily and tuberose are softened with a hint of peach and raspberry. Cedar wood, oak moss and vanilla complement the fruity notes, adding a soothing warmth.”

Foundation – NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

This was a suggestion from a Sephora employee who was helping me find a foundation that would give me full coverage and last throughout the day. I have rosacea on my cheeks [my grandma used to call me “rosy cheeks” 🙂] which causes them to always have a slight pink color to them.

I was looking for a foundation that would give me full coverage to help cover up the rosiness. This foundation is very light – slightly watery – which I thought initially was weird and wouldn’t do a good job giving me the full coverage that I was looking for. I was thankfully wrong.

I like this foundation a lot and would recommend it to someone looking for full coverage that lasts all day. The consistency is a bit watery but once you apply it, it absorbs well and gives full coverage.

Eyebrow Powder & Brush – Anastasia Brow Powder Duo & #12 Brow Brush

IMG_4609These 2 are daily staples in my makeup routine. First of all, this brush is incredible. The hairs are perfect at grabbing just enough product and giving a close to perfect application. The spooley brush on the other end is great for combing eyebrow hair and blending powder.

The eyebrow powder is great as it comes with 2 color shades which help me achieve natural looking darker brows. I’ve had this product for a few months now and after using it everyday, I’ve used very little of either color. I love that this comes with a lighter and darker color so you can use each color for different parts of the brow to achieve that look you’re going for.

Lipstick – NYX Matte Lipstick & MAC Cremesheen Lipstick

I was never really into lipsticks until a few months ago when I decided to try a few. I’m hooked and these are 2 of my favorites! I love them because they are subtle enough that I can wear daily to work but with a little gloss, they are perfect to wear at night.

The NYX one is a matte lipstick in the shade Couture [swatched on the left]. It is a mix between pale pink and coral. The color lasts for a long time and doesn’t awkwardly crease or look “dry”. It does however feel dry on my lips so I like to add this >> Rosebud Salve << before applying which helps to keep my lips moisturized.

The MAC lipstick is a Cremesheen in the shade Nippon. This is a creamy lipstick that is infused with pearlized pigments and a moisturizing serum blend so it feels great on my lips and gives a glossy look. The color is also a combo between coral & pink.

Moisturizer – LUMENE Day Cream & Mario Badescu Eye Cream & Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream

IMG_4562Now that summer is gone and fall is here, my skin has definitely been reacting to the season change. Luckily, these 3 products have been really helping to keep my skin hydrated.

I love the LUMENE Bright Now Vitamin C Day Cream with SPF 15 to use in the morning. It feels very light-weight on my face, absorbs well and has a slight “tangy” scent to it that smells fresh when applied. Perfect for the AM!

My aunt introduced me to Mario Badescu products a few years ago and I’m always shocked at how the products are all high quality for low prices. These are 2 products I’m loving!

The Hyaluronic Eye Cream is light-weight and helps keep the delicate areas around my eyes hydrated. I like to apply this first to the areas around my eyes and then apply the seaweed night cream to the rest of my face.

The Seaweed Night Cream is my favorite product lately. This is perfect to apply at nighttime to let your skin completely absorb all the moisture from this product. It smells great, is light-weight, super hydrating and leaves the skin feeling amazing.

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you’ve tried any of these products, I’d love to hear your thoughts of them! Let me know if there are any products you’ve been loving and recommend I try!

  1. I’ve read rave after rave about Champagne Pop for months! I still have yet to try it – I feel like I’m the last person on the planet to get my hands on some. I don’t wear highlighter too often, but whenever I do, I wonder why I don’t wear it more. This has been on my growing “products to try” list for a while lol. Glad to hear you’re a fan of it too XO
